Adding to the excitement of the already hectic Homecoming is the simultaneous occurance of parents weekend. Preparations for these events are comprised of everything from months of planning by the Homecoming Committee to cleaning the room to impress Mom and Pop. Parents are kept busy with tours and dinners while Abbey orphans attend the dance and basketball game. Alumni also added to the weekend activities and found themselves trans- formed back to their days at the Abbey. Parents were also given the op portunity to see their children ' s theatrical talents in the production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dreamcoat. Finally, Mom and Dad got a chance to experience the fraternity life during the open house parties. All these events went into making Homecoming 87 a memorable experience. Did you wash your hands? Wanda Williams, Doreen Llessem, George Ray 54 w Pi Gamma Mu Ye Shall Know The Truth And The Truth Shall Set You Free The purpose of Pi Gamma Mu International Honor Society in Social Science is to improve scholarship in the social science and to acheive synthesis therein, to inspire social service to humanity by an intelligent approach to the solution of social problems; to engender sympathy toward others with different opinions and in- stitutions by a better mutual understanding and to supplement and to support, but not to supplant existing social science organiza- tions by promoting sociability and attendance at meetings. The motto of the society is the epigram of the Master Teacher, Ye shall know the truth and the truth shall make you free. The society ' s symbol is a key with a wreath at the bottom to suggest that social science is the outgrowth and fulfillment of natural science. The running figure represents the ancient Greek torch race, which symbolizes humanity bringing knowledge to the solu- tion of its own problems and passing on the light from generation to generation. These are the gifts that have been bestowed upon the Graduates of 1987. The many men and women who have lived different lifestyles yet they come together to become one of the Abbey. Here they have shared and lived forever-lasting, joyous mem- ories and friendships. They have shared learn- ing experiences; some painful, some exhilerat- ing and lets not forget the embarrassing (or shall we) — But still they learned and they shared. Now they share the most important memory of their college years. No, not the bottomless kegs or the ultimate party, not even the most memorable Spring Break, rath- er, the Graduation Day. The procession down Abbey Lane, the leadership of Larry Simon — the Senior Class President, the speech of the celebrated author — Pat O ' Connor, the re- ceiving of poster-size diplomas and the sound of Don Perrion exploding all around.
