Friends through victory and failure. With the opening day came the renewal of old friendships formed during the previous year at B.A.C. Summer vacations, jobs, and even studies had split old groups and spread them throughout many states. This was the time to discover all the latest concerning some friend ' s summer adventures and es- capades and perhaps relate afew of our own. Does it really matter if we exaggerate a little or embellish each story slightly? The important thing is -- the old gang is back ' together and new friends are coming in. A rekindling of friendships old . . . Should auld acquaintance be forgot. 13

A renewal of our quest for Knowledge A group o£ freshman horticulturists ply their trade in the gardens of Holy Angels . Made another A For some September marked the beginning of a new experience; for others, it was the continuation of a past or past years; and for the seniors, it began the final lap in the longpuU for a successfully com- pleted college education. New classes, new subjects, and new studies opened the door to a w i d e r knowledge and under- standing of the world. This was not designed to be easily achieved, but promised long hours of classes and still longer hours of private study and research. The Library is the heart of any college and so through its doors began a stream of students that was not to slacken until the closing of school in June. Frank and Bernie plotting madness ! J ' Yakety-Yak Thus began a new life with many people and places and customs to which one must become ac- customed. The seniors found themselves lodged in motels and a traUer for the first semester. A new super-highway was rapidly being bunt nearby. Paul ' s had expanded and nearby colleges were bursting with new faces eager to be met. It was a new climate forout-of-staters and a new accent had to be learn- ed and, for some, acquired. Much was strange, but all was friendly and soon each fitted into a new scheme that promised rich rewards and very few were disappointed. A rough life in a motel ! Put her in gear ! H
