And thus our year began students arrived singly and in groups, all headed for anew year, new friends, and new studies. Still full of summer vigor, still free from worries of tests and teachers, they came from many states and several foreign countries, all prom pted by a cornmon goal -- knowledge. A well organized orientation pro- gram provided the incoming fresh- men with a brief but comprehensive view of their coming college career. Later, the ine vit abl e lines were formed in order to determine room assignments, class schedules and general college regulations. Within the space of a few brief but trying days order was established and The Abbey began as a functioning unit. Fiore arrives at school after pleasant trip iron New York. Made another A For some September marked the beginning of a new experience; for others, it was the continuation of a past or past years; and for the seniors, it began the final lap in the longpuU for a successfully com- pleted college education. New classes, new subjects, and new studies opened the door to a w i d e r knowledge and under- standing of the world. This was not designed to be easily achieved, but promised long hours of classes and still longer hours of private study and research. The Library is the heart of any college and so through its doors began a stream of students that was not to slacken until the closing of school in June. Frank and Bernie plotting madness !
