Seldom is it pure skill that achieves great things. Skill without the aid of confidence and in- spiration is a vulnerable skill, and tends to falter in the face of difficulty and advancing defeat. Great ability and talent need the backing of its colleagues, the cheers of its friends. Skill needs spirit. Spirit is the driving force behind human efforts. ACTIVE PARTICIPATION... ACADEMIC PURSUITS... The power of the individual to affect the course of history cannot be stressed. History, itself, offers an endless series of proofs for this fact. It is the solemn obligation of each individual to see that the world is better because he has lived in it. He can only fulfill this obligation by assuring his own steady progress toward perfection.
