b iewwi{ We believe the purpose of any college annual to be a record of activities and events. This should be a memory book. We know that the finished product is a student creation. And, last but not least, this annual is an instrument for promoting good public relations between Belmont Abbey College and the community it serves. The home, the church, and the school are the bastions of our re- public. Truly, B elmont Abb e y College in its seventy eight year has provided the foundation on which our countryhas beenbuilt and does now stand. Proceeding with caution and care, our Alma Mater has grown along with the Crescat tree which is symbolized on the great seal of the institution. The Abbey realizes that full maturity is still to be attained. Yet, proudly in this year of our Lord, nineteen hundred and fifty six, she presents to the world, her first blossom-the first full four year college graduating class ! It is to these graduates that she cries aloud Crescat . May they, like those who preceded them, rise to be the great leaders of the nation today. May they foster and nurture their Alma Mater to greater glories in the years ahead. And, may they always follow the motto under which their four years sojourn here was ever eminent- that in all things God may be glorified.
