III sn a III (!■ Ill og FOREWORD In the 1941 Spire, ffte 5fa ? has attempted to preserve something of the life at Belmont Abbey College as a ' e have seen it. loved it. and lived It. We can present, however, only the externals of this campus life because the love and companionship of Abbey cannot be enclosed in bindings. Using the campus ' familiar gothic arches as a back- ground, and student life as a subject, ive have recorded here a remem- brance for the years to come. Perchance, during a future day of some rainy season, you may choose to recall your school days. If you. when turning the pages of the yearbook of ' 41. find increased delight, and recall more vividly the scenes of the college, and if you pierce the silver mists of yesterdays, and if it helps preserve the priceless heritage — the memory of Belmont Abbey College — then, the ideal for which this book has been written will have been attained.
