PM It A was V V ' MMM , I1 to lau- ghed, S , Have you ever wondered about what It takes to make an extraordinary yearbook? The answer to your question is the a wllllng-to- work yearbook staff, a lot of hard work, and many long hours. Our yearbook staff started work ln the summer of 1987, at the Josten's Yearbook workshop at Texas Women's Unlverslty ln Denton, Texas. For three days co-editors Michelle Lazenby and Lisa Wagner and other staff members Robert Colwell, Melanle Jones, Tammy Lake, Jeana Taylor, Greg Sanford, and Shelly Vick attended meetings on preparing the yearbook. When the workshop ended, a great deal of the preparatory plannlng was done. The staff members are not only extraordlnary but also adventurous. In order to save money in the future, they started developing their own film and prlntlng the plctures. The darkroom? . . . Well, it started out in a bathroom in the teachers' lounge. Slnce this room was too small, staff members used the Science Lab with the consent of Mr. Bankston. Staff members gave up free Saturday mornings and tlme after school In the afternoons in order to develop fllm and process plctures. This was not as easy as it sounds. Chemicals had to be mixed and then labeled. Afterwards, staff members would wear this smell for the rest of the day. Some negatives had to be prlnted over and over to get just the right effect. Developing fllm was soon mastered by Robert Colwell, Jodi Hlgglns and Tammy Lake, but not before Steve Ross and Brian Hamllton gave it their best shot. They now know the difference between chemicals for developing film and prlntlng pictures although they dldn't at the tlme. Lisa Wagner and Denlse Larklns teamed up to print plctures. After a lot of trial and error, printing pictures became an almost every day occurrence. These two were joined ln the venture of prlntlng by Tracy Hall, Jodi Higgins, and Tammy Lake. Could any of these ladies make a career of this new found skill? Deadline is the true meaning of Blood, Sweat, and Tears . To make a deadline complete, thirty-four pages had to be finished. Staff members were behind a couple of tlmes, but Mrs. Jones always knew how to pull us through. Soon everything began falllng into place, and the dream of the perfect yearbook became a reallty. While some staff members developed fllm and prlnted pictures, others worked on page design, copy for spreads, and plcture captions. Mlchelle Lazenby was always on hand to answer questions, help with assignments and problems, proofread pages, and provided a gread deal of creative thlnklng. Staff members Brandi Mays, Greg Sanford, Melanie Jones, and Shelly Vlck could be counted on to complete page deslgn, enter material lnto the computer, schedule pictures, and many of the other endless detalls involved in yearbook production. There are many things that go on to make a perfect yearbook, and thls year, through team effort, we think it happened. Wlth each staff member finding out what he or she dld best, each was assigned different jobs. Later the work was comblned not to make a picture book, but a yearbook that Informs, records, and shows a great year at Bells. M . If f , 6 . K fs H..-if M N . I J ifqwia fi ng 7 ,,,.
