ffm The 1987 U.l.L. One-Act Play was directed by Mrs. Lynda Lewis. She did a wonderful job. She gave the cast lots of help and encourage- ment. The cast consisted of six members. April Craft-Neat Woman, L'Cena Henderson-Calm Woman, Jeana Taylor-Old Woman, Julie Kepler-Girl, Eric Malone-Man, and Benny Knox-Boy. Kiley King also played the part of the Boy when the play was performed in Bells at the P.T.0. meeting. The play took place in the late seventeenth century in a prison cell just after midnight . The six characters were awaiting the dawn which might bring them all death by hanging. They each had been sentenced for witchcraft, but only the Calm Woman remained un- moved. When questioned by the others, she replied that she would not die on the gallows - that the devil takes care of his own. Soon the others believed that she was a witch and begged her to tell them how they too might gain Satan's protection, but the Girl protested ever- ything they did. Her protests aroused them to fury, and they killed her. The Calm Woman then told them that she hasn't offered them any guarantee of saftey.
