564 7 After many delays and a lot of hard work the school was ready for the first day of classes. Of course, there was still a lot of work that had not been completed, but the building was usable. Students and construction workers were still mingling with each other even after a few weeks of school. The gym and football field were the last things to be completed. There are some people who really stand out as people who helped to make everything possible. The people of our community contributed with their yes votes on the passing of the bond package and their continued support with taxes. Superintendent Ron Rowell should be commended for his unfailing hard work and dedication in the passage of the bond and construction work. Former board members as well as current board members contributed innumerable hours of their time to this project. These members included Gloria Roberts, Robert Pointer, Paul Smith, David Sears, Carolyn Dexheimer, Van Britt, and Chester Reynolds in 1986-87. Newly elected members for 1987-88 were Cynthia Young, Ronnie Brown, and Randy Waldrip. Many teachers and community members donated their time and worked on the construction of our school. On September 19, 1987 the new Bells High School building was dedicated. At 11:00 A.M. the cornerstone ceremony was conducted by the Bells Masonic Lodge. The new school, located on Ambrose road, includes 13 classrooms, a cafetorium, gymnasium, library, kitchen, and office area in the main building. Then there is also a vocational agriculture shop with classroom directly east the main building as well as an ag project center a quarter of a mile north of the building. Behind the ag shop and classroom is the athletic field house and concession stand. Jw,.,.,f-f ...ff f N ' un.: K ., x rr 1 r W ':f5:'g 5 , . 1 l U 'N-I 5' i gk ' ,-I h . Q' . W.,-4-A i ...4l-..-
