12 SENIOR CLASS HISTORY We, the Seniors, of 1956 began our last year of education at the new Bells High School with thirty-eight members. Our class was made up of students from Ruffin, Smoaks, Walterboro, Lodge, and Islandton. Among those who started in the Senior Class are: 3 Mr W aZZW p M 55qu yagfoWV W wwwii Wt fgii Wm 55: mi The Senior3vwho preside over the extracurricular activities are I. B. Ferguson, Student Council President; Miriam Scoggins, Student Director and Annual Staff Co-editor; Delores Robertson, Asst. Student Director and Co-editor of Annual; Sue Strickland, Music Club Pres- ident and Senior Class President; Patsy Myers, Editor of the School Paper and F. T. A. Pres- ident; Betty Padgett, Beta Club President. Delores Robertson was elected as the first May Queen of the Bells High School and Sue Strickland was elected Maid of Honor. The Senior Attendants for the May Court are Patsy Myers and Martha Jane Walling. Under the guidance of our home room teachers, Mrs. I. W. Goodwin and Mrs. I. E. Peters , we engaged ourselves in various ways to make money for our trip to Washington, D. C. A few of our projects were a Womanless Wedding, Queen of Hearts, and Concession Stands. We also sold candy and magazines. We lost two. girls before the second semester. Hilma Goodwin decided to cook and wash dishes for Bill Bellamy. Shelby Jean Padgett was not able to complete her senior year because she had rheumatic fever. Thirtyesix of us are left to be the first graduates of Bells High School on Tune 1, 1956.
