SOP?-IOMORES The class of '39 was welcomed into high school by the class of '38 by having an initiation which was much fun and was enjoyed by all. The class officers for 1935 and 36 were as follows: President -------- William Kilbury Vice-President ------ Freda Thomas Secretary-Treasurer - - - Adele Von Moegen Rep of Student Senate- - Joe Boylan In the fall of '36 a Freshmen Initiation was planned by the Sophomrels and it took place September 27, 1936 in the Bellpoint High School Auditorium. The Freshmen took their initiation in good spirit and everyone had an enjoyable evening. The Sophomore Class was very pleased to admit two new students to its class. They were Martha Moore and Lelah Scott. The Sophomore Latin class thought they would like to have a Latin Club so a club was formed and pins were bought. Each month we have a meeting-we always give five cents as dues. The Freshmenaand Sophomore Latin Clubs sponsored a party Thursday, May 6, 1937 at the Bellpoint High School Auditorium. The officers of our Latin Club are as follows: Consul -------------- Adele Von Moegen Pro Consul -------- - - - - Florency Conroy Scriba ---- - - -------- Lelah Scott Praefectus Aeraru ----- - - - Martha Moore The Sophomore Class was very pleased to have Mr. Koonts as an adviser. The class was represented in athletics. Joe Boylan and William Kilbury were on the basketball and baseball teams. The girls have played basketball among themselves. Martha Moore, Freda Thomas, Lelah Scott, Berdena Pounds, Florence Conroy, and Adele Von Mcegen are members of the girls baseball squad. FRESHMEN We were welcomed into high school by the Sophomore class, which gave us an initiation party. The officers, serving the Freshmen Glass thi 2 B year' were President, Ruby Stone Vice-President, James Webster Sec'y-Treas., Louise Thomas Student Council Member, Marie Staley. This year we were fortunate enough to have four new members in our class. They were: Joyce Lee, Mae Scott, Charles Snouffer, and Andrew Larick. Ruth Cooper, one of our ablest classmates, left us in November to reside in Bsllefontaine, Ohio. A Freshmen Latin Club was organized at the beginning of the school term with the following officers: consul- ------------ James Webster Pro Consul ----------- Louise Thomas Scriba ------------- Bernice Weber Praefectus Aeraru - - -e--- Edward Ufferman The name adopted by this club was UPauce sed Potentes.W We enjoyed our meetings very much and on May 6, we united with the Sophomore Latin Club and gave a party. To enable us to learn to speak and use better English, we formed an English Club this year. The officers President, James Webster Vice-President, Charles Snouffer Sec'y-Treas., Ruby Stone. The name chosen by this club was nHustlersW. This group enjoyed a Weiner roast May M at 0'shaughnesy Dam. for this were: We are very grateful to our faculty adviser, Miss Harter, for helping us to make our Freshmen year a happy and successful one.
