-HOMEECONCWHCS The Home Economics Olub was organized in new interest outside that of the regular Home under the direction of Miss Harter. The Club CLUB- order to create a Economics course members were twenty- two in number and were the following girls: Alda Hayes, Rose Von Mcegen, Virginia Rutherford, Eileen Webster, Maryalys Thomas, Mary Healy, Mildred Shively, Susan Shively, Albina Dunlap, Glarine Moore, Gladys Firman, Bernice Young, Lelah Scott, Ora Webb, Jessie Andrews, Leona Van Gundy, Berdena Pounds, Joyce Lee, Freda Thomas, Mae Scott and Mildred Heath. Those who served as officers of the Club were: President, Virginia Rutherford, Secretary-treasurer, Mary Healy. These officers were elected by popular vote. The Home Economics Club had its meetings once each month. First the business was discussed then a lengthy and very interesting program was given at each meeting. The program usually included a number of playlets. They were closely connected with the work being done in class. Other various things were included on the progranswhich were of interest to the members Club songs were sung by the group. The Club proved a great help in arousing the interest of its members. The members of the Home Economics class carried on a very interesting and also helpful laboratory work during the year. The twenty-two members were divided into two sections. One group worked in the laboratory on Thursday and the other one worked in the laboratory on Friday. This laboratory work consisted of doing a various number of things. The first part of the year was devoted to canning and making jellies. Among the other foods prepared were salads, soups, desserts, and vegetable dishes of all sorts. Gakes, pies, muffins, and cookies successful results were obtained in this work part of the year the work was the preparation Each group prepared its meal and served it to The last work done in the laboratory was that dyes. The experiment with dyes concluded the work. -2 7... were baked. Most Toward the latter of an entire meal. the other Group. of working with year's laboratory
