SPORTS Due to the scarcity of boys and interest it was decided that we should not participate in autumn baseball competition. Recreation ball was selected for the fall sport. It was enjoyed during recreation periods as long as fair weather continued, then our thoughts turned to basketball. In late October, the boys wishing to take part in basketball began practice under the guidance of Mr. Koonts. The squad which consisted of sixteen boys dwindled to fourteen during the season's progress. Richard Thomas and Ray Russell, managers and Mary Healy and Virginia Rutherford, cheerleaders accompanied the squad to all games. THE SEASONS SCHEDULE AND RESULTS WERE AS FOLLOWS: Nov. 21 Bellpoint - 14 Orange - 25 Ballpoint - 18 Galena - 16 Deo Bellpoint - 10 Hyatts - 13 Deo Bellpoint - 14 Radnor - 35 Dec Bellpoint - 5 Ostrander - 51 Jan Bellpoint - 10 Harlem - 24 Jan Bellpoint - 24 Powell - 26 Jan Bellpoint - 13 Sunbury - 14 Jan- Bellpoint - 20 Brown - 51 Feb. Bellpoint - 10 Ashley - 44 Feb Ballpoint - 4 Berlin - 37 The Bellpoint-Powell game was probably the most exciting game of the season threw the winning basket in' Bellpoint, Galena-Bellpoint also very exciting. Three teams of The score was tied until Powell the last inning. The Sunbury- and Hyatts-Bellpoint games were high school boys played a series of basketball games during recreation periods until the weather became suitable for baseball. James Thomas, Beale Frye, and Bob Poling were captains. Bob Po11ng's team won the greatest per cent of the games. Varsity B Association was organized for the purpose of determining regulations for type of letter, who shall be eligible to receive them, how they shall be wornh and other questions in athletics. A committee of three was appointed to draw up a constitution. -4g-

As fair weather returned baseball enthusiasts donned glove and cap and began the routine of practice. The members of the squad and their positions are! Firman - - second base Poling - - first base and pitcher Frye - - center-field and pitcher Boylan - H third base Miller - - pitcher Thomas - - short stop Macklin - - left field Russell - - catcher Kilbury - - utility Larick Q - right field eAs yet one game has been played. Hyatts won by twenty-eight runs. The boys are anticipating a victory over the Alumni team the last day of school and a more successful campaign in the athletic field next year. -14.3-
