Harmon The class of 1969 is proud to dedicate our yearbook to a most deserving and respect- ed member of our faculty-Mr. John Livingston. Mr. Livingston has the rare quality of making learning an enjoyable experience. His sense of humor, personality, patience, and his ability to understand our problems have made Chemistry a rewarding course. Mr. Liv- ingston is always willing to help in any way. He is active in the Driver's Education pro- gram, served as track coach for several years, and is a loyal supporter of the B.F.A. teams. Few teachers have given so much of themselves without expecting any recompense. The entire class of 1969 thanks Mr. Livingston for all that he has done for us and We wish him success in the future. The class of l969 is happy to dedicate ulleflections l969H to Mr. Robert Rose. Through- out our four years at Bellows Free Academy, he has been a devoted teacher and friend to all. ln addition to his teaching ability, Mr. Rose has a cheerful personality and always greets everyone with a smile. The Class of 1969 appreciates everything Mr. Rose has done and wishes him good luck in the future. gn gqppreczdfzbn The Class of 1969 wishes to express its appreciation to Miss Germaine Perrault. Miss Perrault has exhibited outstanding service at Bellows Free Academy-not only as a devoted teacher, but also as an advisor for the Mercury and Yearbook staffs. She has been loyal to B.F.A., having started teaching here when the building first opened, and remaining until this year. Again, the class of 1969 and the Reflection's staff wish Miss Perrault hap- piness in the future years. Cijogfors 7 Wessaye The class of '69 has very appropriately labeled itself, Wfhe Great One. Keeping this in mind, we have tried to put together a yearbook which is worthy to be associated with this title. In order to do so, we have found it necessary to make many changes in the estab- lished pattern in which previous yearbooks have been formed. By incorporating many in- novations, we hope that we have improved the quality of Reflections 369. For example, this is the first year a graduation section has been included in a yearbook. Some other changes are the inclusion of casual pictures of the faculty, a new manner in presenting the formal pictures of the faculty, larger sports and school life sections, and a new method of advertising. We hope that these innovations and revisions have lived up to the standards of the class of ,69-truly Wfhe Great One! ,vJu.uO iris fri aczz Q ends edzcafom GOQJILYOI15' ws ovof 00' . J 01109 qw . While we, in search of bigger things, Let little pleasures die. How foolishly we stumble, Like children we quickly skip through, This flowery, towering, frightening span ,lust to see what we can do. 'Tis true we have great goals to seize And such burdens our backs to bear, That we often find it hard to reach That little thing standing there. If, during our lives, we rest our loads To answer our hearts' weary cries, Weill find that time for those little things Before they wilt and die. Light of Friendship by Don Jarrett Stars that fall through the skies, Are but an image. The people you meet, and the people you love, Are but an image of these stars. They rise with a light and fall with a trail, And they are but an image of this trail. They will leave in their past an image, Only to leave us with the remembrance of their past Not to forget, not as an image, But as the light of life, love, and friendship. Willson, B. Thomas, K. Martell, . rant mgr. . The B.F.A. hockey team ended the season with a 0-12-0 record. Yet, in terms of experience, the team gained a lot. ln the opening game of the season, B.F.A. lost a very close game to Mount Mansfield, 5-4. Mark McCinn got the first hat trick fthree goalsl of the season, and Bill Counos, a sophomore, added another goal. After being shut out by the strong Essex team I7-Ol and by C.V.U. ffl--Ol, the young B.F.A. team took on a powerful South Burlington. The boys upset in their minds as they led 2-0 after a period of play on goals made by Mike Reynolds, but lost 7-2. The next game played at the St. Albans rink, saw the new B.F.A. skaters lose 4-1 to C.V.U. Rice was B.F.A.'s next victim and the Indians just missed being upset in an inspired third period rally, which saw B.F.A. score three goals within a few minutes. The effort, how- ever, was not enough and the Indians emerged with a 5-3 victory. The season ended with two shutouts from B.H.S. and Mount Mansfield. There was a bright spot, however. In the final B.H.S. game, Mark McCinn, playing the Seahorses's ace man to man, kept the Burlington star from scoring a goal for the first time in two years. Other highlights included the famous We couldn't buy a goal garbage line, starring Shaun Trombley, Dick Jarvis, and Pete Lanoue. According to a member of the line, hockey at B.F.A. may never see the likes of it again! As we were rummaging around the ruins of an old institution of learning, we came across an old time capsule. Inscribed on the capsule were these words: '69 The Great One. After careful analysis we concluded that the manuscript inside dated back to the twen- tieth century. This institution was called Bellows Free Academy. The manuscript read as follows: Wfemozks gf fge GQSS gf '69 The year 1965 found us as faltering freshmen. At first the establishment predicted ah- solutely no hope for us. As time progressed, however, we truly proved to be The Great One nonetheless. Within' a very short time we had mastered the new routine. This gave us time to set our sights on the extracurricular activities. Our freshman benchwarmers were destined to become stars of their teams in years to come. We made our dramatic debut in the Junior Jamboree when we staged the The Ugly Duckling. Even though we lost, we knew we had done our best, and we would do better next year. In June we left B.F.A. to return the following September as Sophomores. When we came back, we quickly picked up where we had left off. That was the year some of our musically inclined students became full-fledged choir members. Some of our band and choir members were sent to All-State. Some of our benchwarmers became part of the varsity squads. Six of our scholars made it into the honored ranks of the National Honor Society. Our dramatists pulled through with a winning play How to Propose. The school year ended quickly, and we left the hallowed halls for our well earned summer vacation. We returned the following September as ful-fledged,honest-to-goodness upperclassmen. We continued to excel in all our chosen fields both academic and otherwise. Our athletes were becoming very active and important members of all varsity teams. Dramatically the class of 1969 went down in B.F.A. history as being the first Junior Class ever to tie with a Senior Class in the Junior Jamboree. We showed those Seniors that the class of '69 wasn't easily defeated. Musically we continued to grow in amount and ability. We sent representatives to various music festivals all year. Traditionally, thirteen Juniors were sent to represent B.F.A. at Boys' and Girls' State. As is the custom, our Junior Class put on a Prom as a gift to the graduating Seniors. Even though it didn't turn out exactly as we hoped, it was an enjoyable and rewarding experience. When we returned from an all too short summer vacation, we returned as Mighty Seniors. That was the year! The dream of every freshman come true. If we were to be remembered as a class that was the year to do something about it. And do something we did! That was the first year of a B.F.A. wrestling team. With much powerful help from the Senior wrestlers, we landed in second position, right on top of most of the well estab- lished competitors. Our dramatists did it again. We staged January Thaw axrural comedy. The cast did a great job, and the audience appreciated it. Our experience in Junior Jamboree was sad but remembered. Even though our cast had to be revised twice on short notice, we put up a good fight. Our class had the distinction of sending three talented delegates to the All-Eastern Music Festival in Washington D.C. Other band and choir members represented us in various other music programs. Our Senior year was really a year we will all remember. We learned a lot that year. Some- times we learned the hard way, but we learned it well, nevertheless. When June 1969 finally came around, we met it with mixed emotions. We were glad to be going on to bigger and better ways of life. We were also rather sad to leave our fellow '69'ers and the place where we made so many memories. Those were the years that saw us grow from children to young adults. After reading this manuscript, our analysts have come to the conclusion that the Class of '69 was truly 4'The Great One. ,dw ..-14' , WW ,, :Will M Q I A 1 gz,'f,2 ' ' : Ik: n V A ,W ,v 3 3 ', 41 76059 were ffe ways W grzbnof 1 Y ,rx ,ff nd in H M N 'Ex Ev 5 WW: X 'M , 5, ?
