GRADUATION It's time to graduate; Isn't that great! But the only thing is Nothing will be the same Without you. We know it's time to go, But don't be sad; we love you You know. I myself will miss you GREAT SENIORS Very much. I don't know all of you. But I know you well enough To write this poem for you. Farewell! by Debra Sinclair, '90 2 DEDICATION The Sampler Yearbook is proud to dedicate its 1987 edition to an individual who is not only a good, trusted, and caring friend, but also a strong, loyal advocate of Bellows Falls Union High School. When people think of the school, most visualize the areas of sports, graduation ceremonies, the teachers, and students. Yet, behind all these activities and people is a strong, supporting cast that too often goes unnoticed and seemingly unappreciated. John Elliott is one such member of our supporting cast. He is a warm-hearted, sensitive, understanding, and dedicated man who will go out of his way to help our school and provide encouragement through both his work and friendship. Always a smile on his face and a warm, genuine “Hello” for everyone, Mr. Elliott energetically pursues any goal which is advantageous to and benefits the school environment and its people. We are very fortunate to have such a wonderful person as a member of our school system. In order for our school to continue to maintain its high standards and excellent physical plant, we need to appreciate the efforts of John Elliott and thank him for his care, concern, support, and love. 5 IN MEMORIAM On 4-22-69 a tiny star was born to bring carried to Earth on a rainbow because sfie mother. Robin was always fighting for her life in those last years, but she would never give into the pain of Leukemia. If Robin had not been the fighter she was, she would have died long before she did. When Robin's heart beat for the last time, everyone knew that it was for everyone she loved. Some people thought that she took their hopes and dreams with her. They felt that they could no longer live on without her. Now we know that she only took with her pieces of our hearts to keep her company and to help us fulfill our dreams. The empty space left in so many of our hearts can never be filled, but only replaced by people whom Robin has chosen for us. Robin’s soul now belongs to God, but with us are left her memories of good and bad times. In the evening when you look up to the stars, you may very well see Robin looking down at you. Just remember that, when you think of Robin, she wants you to be happy. Ran a country store. Went broke. Took 15 years to pay off his bills. Took a wife. Unhappy marriage. Ran for House. Lost twice. Ran for Senate. Lost twice. Delivered speech that became a classic. Audience indifferent. Attacked daily by the press and despised by half the country. Despite all this, imagine how many people all over the world have been inspired by this awkward, rumpled, brooding man who signed his name simply, A. Lincoln.
