The lettermen ofBe11mar High School have joined together to form an organization known as the Varsity Club. Eaming a letter in either basketball, football, or baseball is the qualification for entrance Before entering, each member-elect has to participate in an initiation which lasts a week. The purpose of the club is to promote good sportsmanship. The main goal for the boys this year was to raise funds in order to award sweaters to the Senior members. A Christmas dance and various other social affairs were held to finance this project. Mr. Manzini, Mr. Flora and Mr. Tedesco are the sponsors of this group. vo V N , I 5

It is published six times during the school year by members of the Bellmar High School Press Club, the Vemon Junior High School Press Club, and the Marion Junior l-ligh School Press Club. Joanne Vezzani is tl1e editor-in-chief. Doris Lazzari is the news editor, and Donnis Pierallini is the feature editor. The sports editor is Tommy Quintier. Mrs. Hazel Hixenbaugh, Miss Lorraine Guglielmi, and Miss Elizabeth Evans are the sponsors. There are 26 members in the high school press club and 54 members in the junior high school press clubs. The Hurricane acts as a center for collecting and publishing school news in order to acquaint the students with all of the schoo1's activities. It serves as a co-or-dimming agency between the senior high school and the junior high schools.

The Future Homemakers of America began this year with the initiation of new members, which was open to parents and friends. The purpose of the F. H. A. is to work for better homes and family life. The members, as a Christmas project, prepared a package for a girl in Europe and delivered several boxes of food to deserving families. The Valentine Party and the Mother-Daughter Banquet were the out-standing social events of the year.
