Best Years o ur Lives The l98O's have been years that looked back to the past and moved on to the future. Musicians from the past such as Bruce Springsteen, Tina Turner, Michael Jackson, Aretha Franklin, Pete Townshend, Heuy Lewis, James Brown, Robert Plant, Aerosmith, Starship, Chicago, Paul McCartney, Sting, and The Hooters made big comebacks in the 8O's. New Artists such as Cyndi Lauper, Whitney Houston, Sade, Duran Duran, Prince, Tears for Fears, and Bryan Adams also topped the charts in the 8O's. The video industry became popular along with programs like MTV, Night Trax, Night Flight, and Friday Night Videos. Song lyrics were used to protest apartheid, abortion, starvation, the cold war, and crime. Groups like Northern Lights, USA for Africa, Hawaii for Africa, Artists United Against Apartheid, Live Aid and Farm Aid raised Sl 37 million to help the people ofthe world. The 80's also brought the first rock concert in China by Wham. CLASSES Bellingham High School opened it's doors in l 936 and l 938. lt was up to the students and faculty to make the school what it was going to be. Today in l 986, Bellingham High School is l'The School to be at. This is because the faculty and students have positive self-images which are reflected in the school. There is much involvement in student organizations, student government, sports, and academics. Students are supportive of each other and are proud to be RAIDERS.
