Ecology and environment were words that were being tossed about quite freely then. Everywhere people rose to the occasion of doing something for the sake of ecology. Many people blamed it on the government, yet some pushed it on fellow man. Until they realized that environ- mental awarness covers it all. After years of increasing disruptive protests, the U.S. pulled out of the Vietnam War, and the Communists took over. The Watergate scandle and it's repercusions lead to the resignation of President Nixon. America celebrated its Bicentennial. Iranian hos- The Way We Were, tage lead to President Carter's defeat by Ronald Reagan. Carter conceded before Westcoast polls closed. 21.
