Rookies and Veterans Became Friends in Swing This year’s Swing Choir acquired many new students and only a few veterans. The members were chosen on the criteria of individual personality, blend, and showman- ship. Swing Choir practiced every morning before school at 7 a.m; therefore everyone got to know each other quite well and quickly became friends. Their performances amounted to thirty to fifty-five performances a year. They performed for the Elks Club, churches, Country Club, Sen- ior Activity Center at Christmas, and for retired teachers. Some of their performan ces consisted of songs like “Broadway,”’ ‘‘Hello Dolly’’, Camelot’, ‘‘Kiss Me Kate”, “Chorus Line’, and ‘‘Tommorrow’”’. After spending that much time together, the students all became good friends and worked well together as a team. Front Row: Pete Hovenier, Cora Northey, Lori McMurry, and Jim Haw- kins.
