We Sang A Broadway Medley The Choir started off with many new individuals this year. Since they were so new it took them a while to get going. Due to their individual efforts and group efforts, the Choir was successful. They were led by their president Ed Nowakowski and vice president Tim Dickerson. Their secretary and trea- surer were Tammy Locke and Lori McMurry. They also had a boy and agirlrep from each class. The Senior class reps were Tavo Leyva and Susan Hanson. Vince Hammer and Debbie Weyh were Junior reps. The Sophomore reps were Darryl Hammer and Heidi Runestrand. To raise money, the Choir sold calendars at the beginning of the school year and raised over $2000.00 for their group. They also sold Christmas ornaments during, you guessed it, Christmas time. The quan- tity sold by each individual earned them a gift from the com- pany. Flag Team- Better Than Ever! Even though all but three were rook- ies, Flag Team had a great year. They accompanied the Band to all half- time shows and to parades. Adviser Merv Sliger taught the basics, but al- lowed team members to help create routines. Mr. Sliger said they learned more quickly than ever before, and gave consistently excellent perfor- mances. Member Portia Johnson said ‘‘We all worked hard on an indi- vidual basis, but in the end, it was the total team performance that ex- celled. The community really appre- ciated the team because they repre- sented the school very well wherever they went. For most people, the complex moves of 14 flags all at once was the best part of a routine, while others appreciated the concentra- tion evident on the girls’ faces. As always, the wind was the greatest en- emy of the Flag Team. Front Row: Portia Johnson, Michelle Briggs, Carla Jalbert, Wendy Rollins, and Kari Grant. Row 2: Jane Wheeler, Terri Clemenson, Stephanie Pyeatt, Maria Jenkins, Kris Southam, Crissy Tieman, Debbie Weyh, Jill lles, and Heather Geer. Missing: Mr. Sliger, Ad- viser. 1: Crissy Tieman participated in the half time show at the Mount Vernon game. 2: Jill lles and captain Terri Clemenson were intent on their routine at half time. 3: The flag team performed during half time. 4: Jane Wheeler took her routine seriously and performed with dedication. 16 Flag Team
