The String and Chamber Orchestras had a busy and productive year which began with a “Practice-A-Thon” in September to build both their musicianship and tour fund. It culminated in an hour-long concert for which the sponsors received free tickets. Little more than a week following this, the group performed for the 1979 What-A-Sho. During this time the group was also involved with a pen sale, picture promotion, squash wash, art print display, paper and aluminum drives, and a car wash. The week of Thanksgiving found them presenting a Fall Concert and soon thereafter they began their chocolate mint sale. The Chamber Orchestra was busy during this time performing for various functions which included holiday parties, a graduation ceremony, and even a wedding! The Annual Christmas Concert was - held on Monday, December 17. Following the holiday vacation, Chamber worked on contest and operetta music while the large group prepared for a February con- cert. The orchestras also sponsored a dance following the basketball game with Stanwood on January 18. The high point of this year came with the trip to Dis- neyland in which selected members of the orchestras participated. After Spring vacation, the orchestras worked on the Annual Spring Concert and also gave per- formances at some neighboring schools. The year concluded with a traditional graduation performance at which the group said “goodbye” to several of its out- standing seniors. Row 1: Sarah Bussard, Lorri Tomlinson, Kim Dickerson.
