Girls' Ensemble Made a Comeback Ron 1 Pam Vliebe Fileen Sauer Teresa Lou mon Chris Calkins, Nancy Rushin, pianist Karin Jones, Kerry Emerson, Brenda Emmons, INatalie Dovxns and Lisa Zappa Ron Z Lx nda Brand, Shari Swanson, Diane Dixon, Jody Mallahan, Dana Noyes, Donna Pilkey, Penny Volkman Nlargret Duncan Theda Duncan Yeh et Smith, and Anne Pitsch. 1: Pam Wiebe, Lynda Brand, and Jody Mallahan tried out a new arrangement of I Write the Songs . 2: Donna Pilkey and Eileen Sauer boo- gicd while they sang Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy in the What-a-Show. 3: Theda and Margret Duncan and Lisa Zappa diligently Worked on a new song. 4: Some first sopranos spent some time learning movements to Boogie Woogie Bugle Boy . 5: Pianist Karin Jones helped the sopranos learn their part. 6: Mr. Sliger worked on getting the alto part to sound in tune. Girls' Ensemble got going again after being out of existence for a couple of years. Ensemble was open to all girls who were in Choir or Girls' Chorus. The girls weren't required to audition. The group performed music of the WWII era. The girls sang in the What-a-Show, in school con- certs, and sometimes with the Swing Chorus. At one memo- rable performance, at the Leop- old Inn, each girl received a poin- settia and the group received a S150 donation from Friese, Hide, and Tallow Co. 23

Swing Chorus Entertained With a Variety of Music Swing Chorus' first performance of the year was the annual or What-a-Show, Oct. 20. The Win- ter Concert marked the first ap- pearance of Swing Chorus' new outfits. One of Swing's best per- formances was given at Faith Lutheran Church. Swing also sang at the Leopold Inn for a state official. On May 9, they sang for the Retired Teachers Assoc. Among their many per- formances, Swing Chorus also sang at the yacht club, masonic temple, convalescent centers, churches, and the Senior Activ- ity Center. 1: Some of the altos worked on After the Goldrushw. 2: The Swing Chorus sang a medley of songs entitled It's the Most Wonderful Time of the Year at the Christmas Assembly. 3: Suzanne Wal- ton, Teresa Lowmon, Nancy Rushin, and Chris Calkins worked on an arrangement of After the Goldrushu. 4: Duane Noble, Karin Jones, and Terry King haughtily posed here While showing off the What-a-Show Make-up job which had been done on their faces. 5: Members of the Swing Chorus weakly tried to remember the movements to Walk on By . 6: John Unger, Mark Bauthues, Terry King, and Jeff Jenkins concen- trated on finding the right notes. Make-up Crew Assisted With School Production Members of Make-up Crew were the following: Denise James, Tracy Tug- vvell, Chris Polinkus, Tracy Friel, Chris Calkins, Janet Munro, Patty Klopp, Tanya Symonds, Beth Arthur, Sandra Polindcr, Tammy Tomlinson, Marylee Moberg. Linda Finkbonner, Paula Leanderson, Mary Harper, Kelli Rusk, Nanev Yorkston, Kathy Barker, Nancy Rushin, and Advisors Mrs. Ruth Loop, Mrs. Bonnie Osgood, and Ms. Jennifer Sumner. l: Karin Jones was made-up the night of the What-a-Show while Peggy Harrison looked on. 2: Eako Kogo set Todd Leels make-up job with some powder before the What-a-Show. 3: Co-advisor Ms. Sumner waited in anticipation for a sign of approval from Nancy Rushin While Nancy checked her make-up. 4: Dave Arthur sat back to observe the action after his make-up job was completed. 5: Ramona Martin worked on adding some color to her face. 24
