PARTICIPANTS PRAISE POLITICAL PLANS Twenty-Eight BOYS' AND GIRLS' STATE REPRESENTATIVES: Sue Cortelyou, Chris Ott, Curt Wilson, Rea Thompson, Julie Gilday, Bob Frazier. Chosen by the American Legion each year, a group of iunior boys represents Bellingham High at Boys' State in Ta- coma. Last summer Chris Ott, Curt Wil- son, Bob Frazier, and Rea Thompson found that Boys' State-which gives lead- ers a chance to learn by actually estab- lishing a government for themselves-a valuable and never-to-be-forgotten ex- perience. The door of PLC swung wide for experience and responsibility. Two iunior girls, chosen on the basis of scholarship and citizenship, traveled to Girls' State last summer. The girls, be- sides making many new friends, learned much from participation in government. They started out laying a foundation and climaxed the week with elections. One of the representatives described her stay as a really meaningful experience. Anyone who has ever gone would cer- tainly agree.
