The United States is fortunate in that it requires each child to attend school until he is sixteen years of age. Those of you who own this book have chosen to pursue your education towards a higher goal. Perhaps that ambition was encouraged by a faculty mem- ber in your earlier education. When you consider that a por- tion of 180 days per year for sixteen years is spent in a class- room, it would seem logical to assume that many ideas and ambitions had been born of a teacher's guidance. Each of us have respected and admired some faculty mem- ber. Only when many of us take our place in this influential role of teaching will we fully appreciate the faculty. As you turn the following pages, think not of the late hours study- ing or the low grades but what you have learned.
