10 SHADOWS OF CENTRAL STATE COLLEGE The theme is intriguing because it might lead one off in several directions. Shadow, however, imply a source of strong light. There are no shadows on a cloudy day. The light of Central State is its instructional program, its faculty, its libra- ry, disseminating knowledge, developing understandings and appreciations, trying to light up the “shadows” in its college area and in the areas to which her graduates go to serve. So when we refer to the extent to which a college has cast its shadow, either in terms of time or place, we really mean the extent to which its light has gone out to dispel shadows in the living, the thinking and the belief of those whom it has touched.
