Songs and TV programs hailed the mambo, but in Bellingham nobody danced it-we stuck to the bunny-hop and iitter- bug. The iuke box at the Cone played Muskrat Ramble, Hey, There and This Old House. Morrie .awe Granger chewed gum while piano playing in the What- A-Sho, and at the HalIowe'en Hobo Hop some crazy iuniors tore down the decorations and had a cornstalk duel. The front hall looked empty as the boys under the clock became a thing of the past. 23

In September seniors arrived for their big year- If we want to have fun, it's now or never. Halls were full of pink shirts, white pegged pants, and white bucks. The Beacon arrived on the first day of school along with out-of-state students who came with the refinery. New coach Godfrey inspired jokes and a band stunt with tales of hula girls being chased by Hawaiian football players with lawnmowers.
