With a job that is probably the most important in the World today they find pleasure in teach- ing the subjects they themselves have found to he of great interest. Mr. Enoch Bjorkquist, English depart- ment, left Bellingham High this year when he accepted a job teaching in Teheran, Iran, on a Fullbright fellowship. Replacing him was Mrs. Laila Wilson who acted as attendance clerk last year. Ne wto l3.H.S. this year were Miss Lola Mooney, commercial, Mr. Otto Kofler, English and football, and Mr. Leon Alpaugh. Vital statistics should include the facts that Mr. Jack Allison married lVliss Marjorie French, last ycar's office Worker, and Coach Bob Dorr produced a third haslccthall player. Five

BO,-XRD Mr. Beighle, Mrs. Donovan, Mr. Matson, Mrs. l3zmnerm'1n PA R E N T-T EACH E RS By serving as president of the P.T.A. sponsoring of the Globe 'lirotters and of thc energetic Mrs. Phil Donovan ran many well- attended meetings. The group was very active this year, some of its major projects being the TH E OUTBURSTS A generation ago there was a violent comic character called Everett True, who taught ac- quaintances badly-needed lessons by hitting them with umbrellas over the head. In B.H.S. We learn Without such murderous methods. We learn by listening to explanations, by follow- ing teachers, examples, by reading, by doing, by taking field trips, and by thinking. The course of study offers a widely diversified list of subjects, the general classifications of which are English, social studies, mathematics, art, music, commercial, physical education, lang- uage, science, vocational, and home making. This year three new courses were added- handcrafts, stagecraft, and music appreciation. 0 Senior Prom. The many constructive programs were helpful both to faculty and pLlI'Cl1tS. EVER ETT TRUE Special classes Were arranged for students needing help in English and social science. Every student in school sat down with a coun- sellor and discussed his program, and the Juniors and Sophomores viewed the results of standardized tests that they took, tests which would help them understand their academic and vocational problems. The comics did make one notable contribution to the curriculum, an aid that the English teachers frowned on. Many of the old classics appeared in comic book form. Teachers, upon discovering that the original book had been badly neglected, longed indeed to give vent to one of the Out- bursts of Everett Truef,
