Puff the Magic Dragon Lived by the sea And frolicked in the Autumn Mist In a Land called Honolli Little Jacky Paper Loved that Rascal Puff And brought him strings and ceiling wax And other fancy stuff Together they would travel On a boat with billowed sails Jacky kept a lookout perched On Puff ' s gigantic tail Noble Kings and princes Would bow when e ' er they came Pirate ships would low ' r their flags When Puff roared out his name A dragon lives forever But not so little boys Painted wings and giant swings Made way for other toys One gray night it happened Jacky Paper came no more And Puff, that mighty dragon He ceased his fearless roar His head was bent in sorrow Green scales fell like rain Puff no longer went to play Along the Cherry Lane Without his life-long friend Puff could not be brave So Puff that mighty dragon Sadly slipped into his cave. Within the covers of this scrapbook of memories are the painted wings and giant swings of years past. In a sense, | each and every one of us has within him the child of Jacky Paper who must one day grow beyond the fanciful joys’ of childhood. We must now abandon our past and look ahead to our future goals which no longer seem unattainable. Old dreams must give way to new ones. Our “gray night” has arrived and it is with a pang of sorrow that we say good-bye to all those who have prepared us for this event. The future, beckons us and we must heed its call. And so we extend to you a cordial invitation to travel with us on a “boat with billowed sails” while we reminisce for the very last time as the “Class of 1987”
