tULnuunsHiim 3 I VtM Beginnings Passionate demands for knowledge What forms will they take? Shall I search afar, and in my wake Absorb whate ' er I can — for future ' s sake? Shall I go and search for Wisdom? Shall Approval be a nurtured seed? Admiration? Consolation? Advice or Greed? Where to begin to suffice my need! With confidence and faith I blazed a trail. I steered my ship of life thru ' rocky shoals Deftly I plotted courses, sculptured molds Designs intended for attaining goals. Thus I emerged, with head held high Proud of my accomplishments. Apart From all else and knowing from the start I was blithe of spirit and strong of heart. Lillian R. Papelian 9 Memories Heading out toward the distant Horizon Steering straight for those parts unknown. Much wiser are eve now in spirit. With a mind so emotionally grown. This mind seeks untold ventures But this memory yet lags behind. Indulging on friends and adventures And sweet daydreams of moments divine. That first day at school — so scary . . . That first high school dance — so leery . . . That first football rally — so cheery . . . That first Junior Prom — so weary. Memories we ' ll cherish forever and a day. Of doing things together, knowing from the start Dreams of the distant past will soon be brightening our way Keeping dear those friendship that make us strong of heart. Lillian R. Respectfully submitted, Michelle Hodell Katy Kantor Our years at Bellingham Memorial High School have been an enlightening journey through adolescence. As eighth graders we began. Our double sessions ended, and our class began to build its identity. Our first chosen leaders — President, Cyndi Chroniak; Vice-President, Lisa Frain; Secretary, Lorri Trant; Treasurer, Eileen Hanlon; set the course for our class to follow. It was a year of discovery as we planned our first dances, organized our first bake sale, and began building up our treasury. As freshmen we liberated ourselves by electing our one-and-only male class officer, Greg Canestrari, as President. Greg was joined by Vice-President, Donna Rousseau; Secretary, Denise Ambler; Treasurer, Eileen Hanlon. We started our long- held tradition of having the first dance of the year. Remember those days when nobody danced? We paid a dollar to stare at each other and release our teenage energy by running around madly as we listened to the music of Led Zep and The Doors. Do you remember taking a chance to win a record album? It was a year of discovery. As sophomores we had to look forward to our Ring Dance. The class was led by President, Cyndi Chroniak; Vice- President, Katy Kanton; Secretary, Denise Ambler; Treasurer, Eileen Hanlon. In November of our sophomore year we held our first Flea Market. Many classes, clubs, and towns people participated. It was a great fund raiser and spirit booster. It helped establish our class ' s reputation and involvement with the communi¬ ty. It became a traditional event for the next three years. Do you remember trying on your ring for the first time? We elected our first queen, Cheryl Taylor, and her court: Lise Parenteau, Donna Rousseau, Denise Lamothe, and Cyndi Chroniak. We had an evening of dining and dancing. It was our first semi-formal event; we danced til midnight to the music of Flash. Our junior year was another year of new experiences. We broke the record for the largest school dance and initiated the first Junior-Senior Prom. As juniors we elected the class officers that held office for the rest of our school years: President, Denise Ambler; Vice-President, Katy Kantor; Secretary, Stefanie Rice; Treasurer, Michelle Hodell. We attended our first Junior-Senior Christmas Party at the Bocce Club in Woonsocket. Music was provided by Blue Star. Our class was involved with the Student Council in presenting Through the Doors in April of that year. Again, it was an experiment that proved successful. We attended our first combined (Junior-Se nior) Prom at Demetris ' Red Snapper in Foxboro. It was an experience well never forget! Our royalty included queen Robyn Dumas, princesses Karen Armstrong, Lennie Chin, Michelle Lacroix, and Nichole Laviolette. We started our senior activities in the summer by building a class float that won first prize in the Bellingham Days parade. The Class of 84 extended its spirit to others with a successful Thanksgiving food drive and a Santa Claus that visited local area hospitals at Christmas. School spirit remained high throughout the year. We had fun-filled spirit weeks and dances that reflected our pride. The Prom was an elegant affair at the Sheraton-Mansfield. It was attended by over one hundred and eighty couples. The music was provided by Something Katchy. Our royalty was led by queen Shelly King, and her princesses Nicole Laviolette, Cheryl Taylor, Cyndi Chroniak, and Stefanie Rice. They were joined by our first male court led by King Scott Rezendes, and his princes Mike Reed, Tom Magee, Jeff Uncle, and Greg Canestrari. r 0 |0 39 40 I F n i VALEDICTORIAN: Patrick Tiernan SALUTATORIAN: Lise Parenteau 1 Our Dream That 42 B . Although coach Janet Brodeur was less than satisfied with her squad ' s play, Bellingham pulled out a thrilling 15-7, 15-17, 17-15 Tri-Valley League triumph at Medfield yesterday. It was the Hawks ' third win in a row, raising their record to 4-2. With the exception of the first set, Brodeur didn ' t feel her Hawks played well. We didn ' t make it easy on ourselves, she remarked. She said the fact the Warriors made more errors saved her team. Medfield was serving with match point, at 15-14 in the third set, when a Warrior spike was nullified because the player hit the net. Bellingham thus received the ball and served the last three points, with Medfield net¬ ting the ball for the final point for the Hawks. Sue Hebert helped steady the Hawks with clutch spikes, while Diane Goodwin played a strong all-around game. Bellingham, behind the work of Kim Gibson, Debbie Vitarisi and Michelle Hardenbrook, scored a 15-5, 3-15, 15-11 win in the junior varsity match. in Front Row: Kerrie Dwyer, Debbie Vitarisi, Shellie Benoit, Jennifer Arcand, Lori MacGillivary.
