How we squandered those years. Did we think they would never end? We turned our deafened ears To those who tried to gently bend Our wills and make our eyes seeing The beauty that exists everywhere. They tried to impose form and meaning To each new day. To make us aware Of the worth in reliving future years, content With memories of a youth well-spent. And finally. Like the budding rose We absorbed the life-giving sunlight And shed the cloak of apathy we imposed Upon ourselves. With a will of might That shook the very least among our ranks, We joined together. . . hand in hand . . . And marched forward to meet the new day Knowing we had to face the demands Put upon us by those who truly cared — Who trusted us to do the best we dared. With the blending of seasons, one and all, Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall — We completed one cycle of living. Instead of receiving we begin by giving A part of ourselves to the patient one Who well knew that the day would come When we would live up to expectations, Overcome obstacles upon presentation, Joining the ranks of the powers that be With a diligent mind and a spirit free. Lillian R. Papelian ■

In Memory of Rhonda Traci Rice Feel sorry for yourself Ido... Cry at our loss The world is not the same Oh yes, a part is gone Large or small We know the name And yet The loss means more to some than others Remember friend We are all sisters and brothers All related In mankind And when one like Rhonda leaves No one goes But, all are left behind . . . How ruthless of fate to rob us Of a life that has not yet reached its prime A cruel thief that steals an image of ourselves And leaves an empty space in present time But the power of memory will serve us well In that it preserves every image intact Safe from the tarnishing effects of age and all The pain and suffering that it extracts How wise we would be to take this impression And mult iply the pleasure it instilled By the simple act of reflection Allowing memory to serve as the ageless mirror until — NANCY ALCARDI IN MEMORIAM 20 The original and the reflection are reunited in another life.
