We are constantly changing From child to adult, from summer to fall, from winter to spring — constantly As each wave owes its beauty to the one preceding it, each part of our life owes its grace to the moment before it Now we move to our greatest change But we must remember, that like the seasons we too grow and develop with each passing day Li t-m y m ■3a i« tf H ' Jh i -1 Ik; n ? And through the visions of our hearts and the memories of our minds we will gravitate towards that which we secretly most love — our youth, And ... In the twilight of our years we shall have dreams to dream of A moment in time worth reliving in memory. L. R. Papelian We joined together. .. hand in hand . . . Cry at our loss The world is not the same Oh yes, a part is gone Large or small We know the name And yet The loss means more to some than others Remember friend We are all sisters and brothers All related In mankind And when one like Rhonda leaves No one goes But, all are left behind . . . John J. Thuot How we squandered those years. Did we think they would never end? We turned our deafened ears To those who tried to gently bend Our wills and make our eyes seeing The beauty that exists everywhere. They tried to impose form and meaning To each new day. To make us aware Of the worth in reliving future years, content With memories of a youth well-spent. And finally. Like the budding rose We absorbed the life-giving sunlight And shed the cloak of apathy we imposed Upon ourselves. With a will of might That shook the very least among our ranks, We joined together. . . hand in hand . . . And marched forward to meet the new day Knowing we had to face the demands Put upon us by those who truly cared — Who trusted us to do the best we dared. With the blending of seasons, one and all, Spring, Summer, Winter, Fall — We completed one cycle of living. Instead of receiving we begin by giving A part of ourselves to the patient one Who well knew that the day would come When we would live up to expectations, Overcome obstacles upon presentation, Joining the ranks of the powers that be With a diligent mind and a spirit free. Lillian R. Papelian ■ How ruthless of fate to rob us Of a life that has not yet reached its prime A cruel thief that steals an image of ourselves And leaves an empty space in present time But the power of memory will serve us well In that it preserves every image intact Safe from the tarnishing effects of age and all The pain and suffering that it extracts How wise we would be to take this impression And mult iply the pleasure it instilled By the simple act of reflection Allowing memory to serve as the ageless mirror until — NANCY ALCARDI IN MEMORIAM 20 The original and the reflection are reunited in another life. Shari Clunie, vice-president: Lisa Oram, secretary; and Debbie Lamarre, treasurer. “Close your eyes and think of me. and soon I will be there, to brighten up even your darkest night ... all you have to do is call, and I’ll be there ... you ' ve got a friend. A year later ... a year older ... a sophomore. Making friends in your own class yet reaching out to other classes. Remember Slave Day, the carnation sale during Valentine’s week, the T-shirt sale, and the end of the year dance? And of course, our Sophomore Ring Dance, when we received our class rings in March. Helping in these activities were: Lynne Horan, president; Terri Maron, vice- president; Debbie Rousseau, secretary; and Lisa Oram, treasurer. “Ain’t it good to know that you ' ve got a friend . . . when people can be so cold? They ' ll hurt you and desert you . . . and take your soul if you let them. Oh, but don ' t you let them. We were really beginning to know each other... we felt the sadness as some people left. . . yet we realized that we’re almost there ourselves. Our busy Christmas season . . . Las Vegas night in March, and our first year for a Prom in April. Class officers were: Laurie DeMaria, president; Debbie Rousseau and Ray Page, vice-presidents; Karen Sevigny, secretary; and Lisa Oram, treasurer. “Keep your head together and call my name out loud. Soon you’ll hear me knockin’ at your door. Senior year is the year you’ve looked forward to for so long . . . and it ' s finally here ... it was a full year . . . hectic but good. The Halloween Dance, food baskets during Thanksgiving and Christmas, the carnation sale, the Junior-Senior Christmas Party ... a Valen¬ tine dance ... hospital visits . . . the Prom in May ... indeed, a difficult time to keep your head together . . . yet you did it. Class of¬ ficers were: Ray Page, president; Bob Cook, vice-president; Karen Sevigny, secretary; and, Lisa Oram, treasurer. Your days in high school may be finished but the friends you ' ve made will last forever. . . “You just call out my name and you know wherever I am. I’ll come runnin’ to see you again. Winter, Spring, Summer or Fall. . . All you have to do is call — And I’ll be there . .. You’ve got a friend.” Selected lyrics from You ' ve Got a Friend by James Taylor Words and Music by Carole King Copyright 1971 by Colgems Music Corp. MINICHIELLO Reflections EDUCATOR 1945-1980 A time has come when one’s work is complete And man has reached his goal. He then turns to seek his waiting retreat With peace of mind, body and soul. He seeks no glory; he wants no gain. He knows such things are all in vain. He needs no praise, nor honor due; His aim complete: to see things through. He can now look back without regret For within himself he is certain That he gave of himself to those he led From opening days to final curtain. HAWKS SOAR TO BEST RECORD EVER ... The Varsity Football Team finished its season with the best record (6-4) in Bellingham football history. The players, the coaches, and their assistants, displayed a total team effort, and tremendous pride and self-discipline in preparation for each game. Time and time again the Hawks rose to the challenge each game presented. The player who best exemplifies these three qualities also possessed a super talent and love for the game of football. This player is Jim Oram. Jim Oram did what all running backs dream of. He rush¬ ed for over 1000 yards in a single season and became the first Bellingham player to do so. Besides his outstanding arsenal of offensive weapons, Jim’s defensive ability at cornerback con¬ tributed greatly to the team’s success. Jim was se¬ cond in the interception category with 6, behind teammate Ron Russel who had 7. In recognition for his fine accomplishments, Jim Oram was named to the Milford News All-Stars, Woonsocket Call All- Stars, and the Tri-Valley League first offensive teams. Ron Russell was named to these three All- Star first defensive teams. Other team members receiving All-Star honors were seniors Dave Perry (Woonsocket Call defensive team), Scott Belliveau (Woonsocket Call and Tri-Valley second offensive team) and Ray Page (Woonsocket Call second defensive team). Without the consistent performances of all the varsity football players, this year’s impressive record would have remained a dream. Jim Oram, together with his teammates, saw a dream become reality. Truly a year to remember in Bellingham athletics. ... For the se¬ cond consecutive year, Coach Roger Guillemette ' s boys qualified for Eastern Mass, tournament play. Despite a fine ef¬ fort, however, they were eliminated in the preliminary round. The success of this year’s team was due mainly to their display of unity and a positive attitude between the coach and his players, both on and off the ice. Several members were named to the Tri- Valley League All Star team. They were: Captain Jim Newman, Brian Sherlock, Pat Morrison, and Mike Morrison.Other players receiving special recognition were Eric Newman (T.V.L. Sportsmanship Award) and Jim Newman (team M.V.P.). We, the Class of ' 81 have been truly blessed, For our dedicated yearbook advisor possesses all three virtues — Power, Wisdom and Love — and uses them so skillfully. DEDICATION SMILES a i ssa 140 r V. Every season must have a beginning. Each birth must end in dying. So with the onset of our Freshman season A rebirth was given to reason. It was a time for sprouting! Then new concepts and ideas soon took hold. And like the budding crocus in winter’s cold As sophomores we looked to the dawning of a new day When we would overcome our childish way. It was a time for blossoming! How we Juniors squandered the time we thought unending Until the wisdom of our sages imposed form and meaning. Soon each day was worth reliving in memory. Each moment of life a virlie branch on a stately tree. It was a time for flowering! Lillian R.
