M f j i j l I • w i • , 1 jt i } V i m « J0k Although wc may not realize it, all things change with time. Each of us will set out on our own ways as ;:we learn, work, and strive to live today’s dreams. Mystery lies ahead, and the future will soon be here. We must all look beyond the past shadows and venture out into reality. Although we will at one time or another reflect on the people, places, and times we left behind, our thoughts and actions can- not linger in the past. • . Always remember, ' ‘.yesterday’s sunlight ' . • has faded away, • ' • • ' • ' ‘ --but we will ;r % % r cast new shadows. • • • i ! But, our future should be bright if we searched for answers to the problems that faced us then. And, by simmering the knowledge we acquired, the future should be shaped by the lathe of learning, leaving behind just the remnant sawdust of past ignorance. Come out son — be not so afraid Of life that you reject and defy all things unknown. Come out son — life is waiting for you; Lie and love and beauty await —— the hungry eyes. Volleyball In the 1979 season, both Junior Varsity and Varsity were competitive in the TRl-Valley confer¬ ence. Varsity finished the season with a 5 and 7 record while the Junior Varsity ended with d wins and 7 losses. The girls worked hard, enthusiasm was high, and their confidence was bolstered by a trip to view the U.S. Olympic and Japanese team s Because of several returning underclassmen, coach Jennine Gaston is looking forward to a suc¬ cessful program next year. f K 4 1 w i JtL r ' r i • r at Westwood L Westwood L at Holliston L Holliston L at Medfield W Medfield W at Ashland W Ashland w Dover L at Dover L at Millis W Millis JL 87 Varsity Football Although this season’s record reflected past performances, it was a year of progress. Coach Wally Quigg, in his first year as a head coach, along with his three captains, made substantial efforts to improve pride and team unity. The Blackhawks finished their disappointing season with a triumph over arch-rival North Smithfield Northmen to secure the Thanksgiving Day trophy sponsored by the North Smithfield Jaycees. Linda Gagne. rm m With the primary objectives of learning, participation, and enjoyment in mind, the Girls Varsity Basketball program was very successful. In terms of wins and losses, the team didn’t finish well (5 wins — 14 losses), however, most pre-season goals were achieved. This was due to the hard work and dedication of the girls and coach, Mr. Boyle. 98 Girls Basketball Front Row: Cathy Connors, Debbie Kozak, (co-captain) Marianne Costello, (co-captain) Nancy Fournier, (co-cap- tain) Donna Trudeau, Leora Krause. With the aid of Coach Penny Dean and Captains Rick Cata¬ lano and Ryne Johnson, the students enjoyed a bit of humor before a Saturday football game. Mr. Roger Guillemette, in Bellingham High School’s first attempt in the Tri-Valley League Hockey Program, established a definite winning tradition. Thirty-five boys tried out for the team, of which 17 contributed to the 11-5-2 season record. Coach Guillemette’s main goal, early in the season, was to gain respect and be competitive in the Tri-Valley. Through the efforts of captains Mark Rizzo and Jeff Vose, as well as the other 15 boys, the hockey team finished a strong third and placed two boys on the all-star team (Jimmy Newman and Brian Sherlock). Because of the support of faculty and the student body, the hockey pro¬ gram was able to develop momentum for the upcoming season.
