Though the team did consist of many more juniors and sophomores than ever before, the Bucs proved they could pull the weight. The Bucs ended up with a 4-3 record which entitled them to go on to C.I.F. Senior Paul PeSanllago helped the Raiders de fense to victory (top right). While teammate Hyung Sik Yoo was having a few problems (mid die) But when Senior Tracy Day recovered a loose ball for the Bucs (above left), quarterback Greg Hefley would help out by marching it down the field for a touchdown. Q6-Varslty Football Il seemed like all year long the referees would never call anything and when they did it was against Bellflower. even though Senior Mike Richardson could prove that the referees sure did miss that face masking call (above). But then Senior John Nishamoto came back with fine running plays for the Bucs (right). Also helping out the Bucs. was Senior Paul Garrison (below), seemingly finding the open holes in the line and taking an advantage of them. He was also helping out quarterback Greg Hefley find an open field on the quarterback keeper (bottom right ). Varsity Football-Q7 After Paul Garriaons Injury at the Glenn game, Tony Meyers replaced him. Meyers (above) shows his bulldozing style. While quarterback Greg Hefley gets a little advice from Coach to go against our tuffest opponent. Paramount, (right) But the Bucs stuck it out. or in Don Mitchell case, got stuck (bottom left). But in the end. it put a smile on Coach ODells face. 138-Varsity Football The Bucs went thundering into C.I.F. with high hopes (above). But they soon fell because it seemed like no matter how fast the Bucs ran (below left), or how hard the Raiders hit (top left), it was always useless. The referees were also making it very difficult on the Bucs. They never seemed to call any penalties against Leuzinger and when they did, it never helped the Bucs out. But Seniors Mark Pelligrino (51), Dave Ries (21), and Mike Richardson (iO) kept looking on, hoping for that lucky break (left). It didn ' t come soon enough for the Bucs, so consequently we lost the game. But in the true spirit of our Buc Pride, the team went out holding their heads up high (below right). With this record, the cagers acquired 4th in the league stand- ings. Some of the problems that contri- buted to the season ' s record was that the team only held an average height of 5 ' H . Also the lack of experience of varsity play, because there was only one return- ing varsity member. Craig Martin. Not to be overlooked either, that there was a new head coach. Mike Leininger.
