included the egg blowing contest, the tossing of frisbees and tomatos, and the pie eating contest. Other happenings involved pyramid building, body painting and the VW stuff. Although the daily events were hampered by several di sruptions, the nighttime activities ran smoothly. During the even- ings, the junior and senior classes sponsored an ice cream social and a pizza hoot. The princesses and their escorts were kept busy with many contests, sponsored by var- ious clubs and classes, including bubble gum blowing, peanut butter and cracker whis- tle, milk shake drinking, water balloon tossing, obstacle racing and, of course, a chocolate pie eating contest. At the assembly on Friday, the top seven were reintroduced and the honored titles of King Ugly Man and King Crazy Legs were awarded to seniors David Bybee and Craig Sorbom, respectively. The climax of the entire week came that evening during the bas- ketball game halftime when Julie Hudson was crowned WSF Queen, and the Bucs went on to defeat Excelsior. The BHS Drama, Music, Art and Home Ec. groups joined forces this year to produce the third annual all school musical, Oklahoma! The play was packed each of the five nights it ran, and the cast put on an encore performance for the orchestra and people who missed the previous presentation. After much success with this year ' s classic musical, the combined organizations are considering South Pa- cific as a possibility for next year. k ■88-Oklahoma J N Oklahoma!-89 Keeping everyone at BHS enter- tained is a tough job, but the dar- ing Drama Dept. undertook the task. For a mere 25 cents, lunch- times were livened up by Brown Bag performances, while bigger projects were in the making. The Man who came to Dinner and the musical Oklahoma were the major productions of the year, but in between their presen- tations, the Thespian ' s home base, the Little Theater, was giv- en a face lift with the repainting of its interior and the addition of new curtains. km f 1 4 °ic CJrv ( b l sl ' . Instead of working from Monday to Friday, many staff members worked from Monday to Monday, side by side with advisor Skip McDowell. With all the hours put in by this staff, they were able to give the Bucca- neers a Treasure Chest filled with more color and special effects than ever before. Photos by Rusty Morris d I Hi 0 A We Gave It All We Had!!! Choosing the theme for the Treasure Chest this year was a difficult task, since we had such a wide variety to pick from. After days of debating, we finally decided on Giving it all ya got We felt that this phrase carried the feeling we wanted to get across to all the people who looked at the book. After deciding on the theme, we tried to carry the feeling throughout the pages with pictures of people giving their all. The annual staff showed their enthusiasm throughout the year by yielding a yearbook with more color pages and special effects than ever before. The book itself is larger than last year ' s and contains the work of a staff who gave their all to produce it. The entire staff did a fantastic job and should all be commended for their outstanding work There are a few people who should be recognized for doing much more than their shares to make this a terrific yearbook. Much appreciation goes to David Bybee, Bruce Weber and Tom Obbema for all their super color photos, and a special thanks is extended to Rusty Morris who was not even on the staff, for his help. All the artwork in the annual was completed by two very talented guys. To Tony Cerza and Brian Carrillo, I give much gratitude for their contributions to the cover and division pages. I would also like to acknowledge Steve Wagner, our yearbook representative for all his help on layouts, and to P.J. Studios for printing all our color. We couldn ' t have made it without either of you. Lastly I give a warm thanks to our advisor Skip McDowell for keeping us going.
