Head BA Whittier College The Special Education Department is aimed at individualized and small group instruction in which students enjoy a relaxed relationship with their teachers. Both required and elective courses emphasize material which gives students a realistic knowledge needed to function adequately in com- munity and home situations. In addition, students are employed in jobs both on and off campus before graduation. This work experience offers the students a great opportunity to gain valuable skills which provide an introduction to the work world. After graduation, students receive additional training and guidance through the State Department of Rehabilitation with which the school has a cooperative. 30
