Mrs. Melva Mirch President The prime concern of the Bellflower High Parent-Teachers Association is the welfare of the students. Social and athletic functions are a couple of the things PTA has been especially active with at BHS. They sponsor the Home- coming Dance, sponsor and chaperone all the Grad-Nite activities, and donate half of the profits from their concession stands at foot- ball games to the Student Body Fund. PTA helps the city of Bellflower in general also. The unit con- tributes to Medical and Dental Health Funds, provides clothing for students when necessary, they give food to less fortunate families, and promote Parent Education. Mrs. George Mirch has been president of this organization for the year 1967-68. Other board members include Messers Stanley Ripley, Harley Kennedy, Walter Schulte, Lloyd Brower, Rollo Alexan- der, Glenn Poteet, William Purselley, Floyd Hewitt, John Bennett, James Fouquette, and Thomas Wells. When asked her basic duties she could write you a book. Every day is filled with new problems and new challenges. Many times we do not give enough credit to the hard work of the Secretarial Staff but without them B.H.S. could not function. 15
