The graduating class of 1957 will always remember their classmate Judith Kay Leinen who met death in an auto accident October 6, 1956. Judy moved to California in 1941 from Taylorville, Illinois, with her parents and an older sister. She attended elementary and junior high schools in the vicinity of Bellflower. In 1953, she entered Bellflower High School as a freshman. Her favorite subjects in high school were home economics and typing. Her hobbies were swimming, dancing, and sewing. She spent most of her spare time making many clothes for herself and others. Judy had a winning personality, and was very popular all through her high school years. Her parents Mr. and Mrs. Lloyd Leinen reside at 16222 Lakewood Boulevard in Bellflower, with their young daughter Kathy, 13, who is planning to attend Bellflower next fall. Their oldest daughter, Donna Ballard, is a graduate of Bellflower High School. Judy's memory will always be cherished in the hearts of her many friends and classmates.

£znio% In 1953, as quiet but alert freshmen, we began our high school career by electing class officers. Eldon Morgan became our first president; on his cabinet we found, Glen Jones as vice president; Marcia Williams, secretary; Kay Skinner, treasurer; Loretta Wilkerson, historian, and Jack Cramer, sergeant-at-arms. The most outstanding event of our first year was the freshman talent assembly. As sophomores and leaders of school spirit we set a new tradition for Bell- flower High. This being Sophomore Week. For our class this included a sale, our 'Caesar'’ assembly and ended with a sock-hop in the school gym. During that year our officers were Antionette Olivera, Wilba Adcock, Jack Cramer, Jim Byers, Fred Childers and Marcia Williams. Our junior year was truly an unforgettable one. Gary Smith, as president, led the class in choosing our class sweaters. We chose “California Sunset, a coral, with charcoal grey to set ourselves off from the rest of the school. We cele- brated the arrival of these sweaters with the Junior Sweater Swing held in December of that year. Gary Smith, Wilba Adcock, Jerri Olson and Bob Crane, as class officers, helped make successful the Junior-Senior Prom, “Moonlight Melodies, held at the Lakewood Country Club. Of course, we can not overlook our senior year which was the most suc- cessful of all. Many changes came over Bellflower High this year, including a new tree purchased and planted on the Senior Square at the beginning of the year. Our class rings were received in October and our senior pictures were taken during October and November. We sponsored the very successful Sweet- hearts Ball in February and, of course, the unforgettable All Night Party. As each of us goes our separate way, our high school experiences will re- main in our album of memories forever.
