Leadership Pays Off The 1982-83 Boys Varsity team got off to a slow start when they lost their first four games, but this streak was ended when they upset Conner, 83-64. From then on the season was uphill for the Tigers who won their next 9 out of 10 regular season games. In the first round of the District Tournament the Tigers fought hard to bypass their arch- rivals, the Dayton Greendevils. This victory led them to the second round where they were defeated by Newport Catholic and became the 35th District runners-up. From here it was on to the Regional Tournament where the Tigers suffered a heartbreaking loss to Lloyd. The team finished the season with a commendable record of 14-14. Besides an outstanding team effort, two of the team's seniors, Steve Crittendon and Doug Miller, recieved many honors for their efforts. Steve was named to the All AW Classic Tournament Team, and Doug was chosen for the 9th Region All Tournament Team, as well as being se- lected Famous Star of the Week. Then both Steve and Doug were named En- quirer Player of the Week and elected to the District All Tournament Team and the All Region Team. Under pressure, Steve Crittendon attempts to score two points. The team gets fired up before the start of the game. 74 ' Boys Varsity Basketball Ft ,.., f 3 H' z , Ffa! 2 ff.. - fi sirr rrrr he 5- 14' if T 'f r - f ' .. .1 ,, W., ' 18 ' t fi ' y ' 2 'X J imma, Q - .,,, 1 ' 7 M V V y .
