Girls Dash To Before their regular season, the girls Victory cross country team went to a Cross Country Camp at Houston Woods, Ohio. At this two day event, the team members met each other, and Coach Stidham started them on their running program. Following the camp, practice continued until the season was finally open. With a team of mostly 7th and 8th graders, Coach Stidham was expect- ing a rebuilding year, however, he was overwhelmed by the girls' superb sea- son. Near the opening of their season, the Tigers conquered AAA Lloyd and AAAA Holmes. Losing to archrival Dayton was disappointing, but the girls chalked up another win over Conner. For an inexperienced team, the girls did exceptionally well at most of the invita- tionals in which they competed. At the regionals, the varsity squad missed 3rd place by only a few points, and the ju- nior varsity came in a spectacular 3rd place. In the years ahead, the girls cross country team will probably be one of 1 ? Coach Stidham points out the course to t girls. At the finish, Sheri Thomes goes through t chute to get her place number.
