The Tigers defeated Dayton in their opener by a score of 21-7, even though Mike King was sidelined with a knee injury in the first quarter. In the following week, the Scott Eagles managed to send the game into overtime but were unable to match a Doug Miller touchdown late in the third extra period. The Tigers were not so fortunate in the succeeding week, which saw an outmanned Bellevue team overcome by class AAA Conner. The ensuing week the Tigers tallied up their third win against just 1 loss with a convincing 28-6 victory over Rich- mond-Madison. Bellevue's fortunes took a turn for the worse in the follow- ing weeks as the Tigers dropped 3 straight, all by the score of 19-7. A final effort by the Tigers to reclaim their dis- trict crown fell short at the hands of the Ludlow Panthers, eliminating Bellevue from the regional tournament for the first time in four years. However, the Tigers managed to salvage their pride in a 37-7 trouncing of archrival Dayton and went on to close out the season at 4- 6. Coaches: First: C. Coleman, F. Bernier, S. Hutton, Second: fPhys.J J. Sutkamp, B. Hart, W. Starnes. Even though the Tigers didn't get the first down, Steve Crittenden gets off a beautiful punt. After an excellent tackle, Tom Norton checks his wrist for an injury. 58 0 Varsity Football BHS 21 28 0 28 7 7 7 14 37 18 VARSITY SCORES Dayton Scott Conner Madison Campbell County Newport Beechwood Ludlow Dayton Nicholas County OPP 7 20 27 6 19 19 19 34 0 28

Rick Buckler sets up for the block, as Doug Miller looks for an opening. After the defense breaks through, Steve Critten- don scrambles for the best possible yardage.
