Season Sees Three School Records Shattered With a lot of hard work and youthful enthusiasm, Coa gh Pep Stidham and the Tigerette tracksters had a very successful season. Three seniors and a talented group of underclassmen finished second in the Bellevue Invitational, captured the championship at the Dixie Invitational, and took the runner-up spot in the regional meet. Holly Murray established school records in the shot put and discus, while Karen Hopper was busy breaking the school record in the mile run. Sophomore Stephanie Parr survived the stiff competition of the Region and Sectional to place fourth in the state meet in the 100 meter low hurdles. For his efforts Coach Stidham was selected as Coach of the Year by the Girls Coaches Association of Northern Kentucky. BUYS' TRACK Season Long And Arduous But Reaps Many Rewards Track is usually thought of as a spring sport, but Coach Mayer had the Bellevue tracksters logging miles beginning on January 7. This early training paid off as the Tigers ran by their opponents during the entire season. included in the Tiger victories were the Bellevue Invitational, the Lloyd Invitational and the all important Regional Meet. The K.H.S.A.A. initiated the sectional meet this spring. Only the top 4 runners in each event from each region made the trip to the sectionals, and only the top 2 from each sectional made the trip to the state meet in Lexington. Of the 11 regional qualifiers, 4 B.H.S. tracksters survived the tough sectional competition to make it to the state met. Running against the best runners in the state, Jeff Sprague established a new school record in the 400 meter dash while capturing third place. Jeff also came across the finish line in the number 3 spot in the 200 meter dash. Mike Harper and Bill Manning finished their careers strongly, placing second in the pole vault and fifth in the mile respectively.
