N - Es. if Cross-Country Buns To Win in 1979 Season Only after experiencing the aching muscles, the long, lonely hours of practice, and the day to day dedication of the runner can one truly appreciate the sport of cross-country. This year, 14 Tiger runners experienced these characteristics of this truly demanding sport. Under the enthusiastic leadership of Coach Pep Stidham, the boy's and girl's CrOSS-Country teams finished their regular seasons with impressive conference standings. Four Bellevue runners, Bill Manning, Hans Herklotz, Doreen Klein, and Karen Hopper qualified for and competed in the state championship on November 3rd at the Kentucky Horse Park in Lexington. Strong performances by Bill Manning, Hans Herklotz, and Karen Hopper during the regular season merited their selection by area cross-country coaches to the Regional All-Star teams.
