lx X 7 Keith Ahreng Kimberly S. Ahrens Nicholas Vincent Benge Donna Jean Billings New Challenges Freshman year was our first of four steps on the ladder of our high school development. Each of us felt a paradox of emotions: A feeling of loneliness and inexperience as well as a feeling of security in knowing that the older kids would look after us. Our faculty? We'll always remember the embarrassment of Health class when Mr. Vorhees made us sing the ever popular Dixie, Mr. Holechko's English classes, and Mr. Stidham's way of cheering up a class with a crazy joke in Biology. Who could forget Miss Gatlin teaching Spanish with a southern accent or Mrs. Royalty standing on ten Algebra books and touching her palms to the floor? These seemingly insignificant events are now cherished memories. They helped us to form our ideas, made us smile, and led us to develop everlasting friendships. Our freshman year was a new and exciting beginning to bigger and better things. Right: Lora Hasse and Jenny Diesman show us that school can be fun as they clown around at the end of a class. Opposite, above: Doug Ftoell seems intent on making the most of his last year in high school. 0 Andy Verkamp and Jeff Grome support the class by selling cokes at the senior dance held in August.
