TIGERS ON THE Playing their first year under the leadership of Coach Joe Kohler, the Tigers had one of the best seasons in recent years. They started oft in great style, going into the Christmas vacation with five straight victories. The first loss came at the hands of Simon Kenton, but they bounced right back by beating Ludlow, Campbell County, Dayton and Lloyd. The next week was a rough one as they played three top teams in the conference, beating Dixie Heights but losing to Holmes and Newport. Silver Grove, Ludlow, and Highlands caused no trouble, but HARDWOOD the Tigers lost a close one to Holmes and ended the season losing to a strong Boone County team. ln the District Tournament they were defeated by Newport Catholic, one of the top teams in the ninth region. Pacing the Tigers were Carl Hagberg with 342 points, Grover Heuer with 221 points, and Bob Jones with 2l3 points. The following players were lost through graduation. Carl Hagberg, Grover Heuer, Bob Pope, Terry Otten, Ron Stieby, Charles Mastruserio, and Jim Chase. lFirsl rowl: Grover Heuer, Charles Mastruserio, Bob Pope, Wayne McGinnes, Terry Otten, Ron Stieby. lsecond rowl: Ron Mendell, Carl Hagberg, Bob Jones, Jim Chase, Bill Harmon, Dick Thomas. lAbovel: Manager Charlie Moore, Assistant Coach Dick Rothfuss Head Coach Joe Kohler, and Manager Jim Wadsworth. 1955-56 RECORD Silver Grove Butler Dayton Highlands Beechwood Simon Kenton Ludlow Campbell County Dayton lgloyd Holmes Dixie Heights Newport Silver Grove Ludlow Highlands Holmes Boone County Newport Catholic lDistrict Tourn.l 71 We They 5l 50 74 69 77 49 68 55 59 48 52 56 76 54 65 64 68 50 74 39 58 75 68 58 60 72 59 51 92 57 83 48 69 70 47 62 49 63 M- w,,,.,.,... 1 m . G.A.A. meets twice a week at which time game rules are, reviewed and the regular practice takes place. Pins and letters are awarded at the close of the year to those who qualify according to a point system. Games are scheduled with neighboring schools and a great deal of friendly rivalry is stimulated. This year the Bellevue girls participated for the first time in a play-day sponsored by Highlands High School. GAA. also took part in the May Day program which is presented each year at the stadium, in con- junction with the Grade School and the boys' gym classes. 5 .' . i. . .
