CHRISTMAS IN SUN VALLEY On December 18, 1971, couples from BSHS traveled to the reknown ski lodge in Sun Valley. Everyone was in fine spirits as the cozy surroundings of the lodge and the rock sounds from the group Uncle Joe filled the air. The guests gazed through windows onto a winter wonderland, where little tots romped on the ice and snow, and oth- er guests glided down the ski slopes. , l l The highlight of the evening was the crowning ofthe King and Queen of Goodwill. Keith Fox and Jane Lamanna were bestowed with these traditional titles. King Keith and Queen Jane reigned over the festivities for the remaining part of the evening. CLASS COLORS - Burgundy and Pink CLASS MOTTO - Some men see things as they are and say Why? CLASS FLOWER - Pink Rosebud We dream of things that never were and say Why Not? WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN We've only just begun to live, Life lies ahead of us These days are gone and we're on our way. Dear Bellevue High we say good-bye. And yet we won't forget Our many classes and what they meant. Or all the friendships that were started here. They'll soon be shadows of the past. The tears and laughter that have been our own, They'Il be forever in our thoughts, forever. And as the years go by we'll look Back into Seventy-two, Remembering when we were once a class. These past years fade away to memories, Although we'd like to keep them clear. Each dance, each game, each friend, All dear to us, Now these things must step to the rea r, forever. We've only just begun to live, Life lies ahead of us. These days are gone and we're on our way. And yes, We've just begun. Sung to the tune of WE'VE ONLY JUST BEGUN Words by Debbie Jo Gardner. 49 THE CLASS OF 1972. GRADUATES 251 wg'-P f ' f 'Y Y .. -- . 'Y T' ' 'Q ' E-E-' LS' . 2 - - zz. - ... . . A . . - '. And the 'tough' must go forward with determination. CROSS COUNTRY HAS UPS AND DOWNS This years edition of the cross country team finished the dual meet season at six wins and five losses. Coach Netcher, the first year mentor, experienced trouble with injuries to key personel throughout the season. The local harriers also finished last in the N.O.L. meet and sixth out of elev- en in their heat in the sectionals. There was only one runner from Bellevue eligable to com- pete in the district meet. Greg Seisel, the Redmen's number one runner, qualified for this honor by finishing thirteenth at the sec- tional trials. ln the district race, Greg was competing against some of the best trackmen in the state. He ran in good form and finished twenty-ninth out of nine- ty, Just five seconds short of qualifing for state. 56 -if Receiving awards are QL T0 RD Dave Truhan, Fred Skulina, and Greg Seisel Greg Seisel broke the school record of 10:13 with a time of 10:09. 57 REDM EN GAIN EXPERIENCE Mike Green runs for a score. This year in Bellevue, a rebuilding process took place. The coaches had their work cutout for them, as there were only twelve seniors to mold a team around and only six of them lettered. The players spent long hours practicing and getting ready for this past season. ln many of their first few games, inexperience spelled the margin of defeat. As the Redmen put in more playing time, they began to improve but unfortunately so did their opponents. The local squad ran into some stiff competition toward the middle of the season and also had some difficulties with training rules. When they overcame these troublesome times, they were tough to beat. The old Redmen Pride was shown when they won over their last two oppo- nents to finish the season at 3-6-1. Not only did they stay undefeated until the last game of the season, but they also stepped up to varsity play for one game. The J.V.S were coached by Mr. John Boyden and Mr. Ed Fox. They drilled defense into their charges so well that opponents only scored 28 points in nine games. Defense was not the only asset the J.V.S. held. Of- fense also proved to be more than enough. The Little Redmen were able to tally an amazing 162 points in the overall season. If this is an indica- tion of the future, then football shall rise again in Bellevue. '5 . REDIVIEN 3RD IN N.O.L. The Bellevue Redmen Cagers found the 1972 Season a little tougher than the previous ones. The local squad finished the sea- son in third place in the N.O.L. with a respectable 7-7 record. Other teams finishing ahead of the Redmen were Gallon 1st and Willard and Norwalk tied for the number 2 honors. The Bellevue team had ups and downs throughout the season and just couldn't put it together at the right times. 63 However, not all was dark for the Redmen. Mike Schoen, the 6'5 senior center, broke the school scoring record with 41 points. The record was previously held by Mark Hoffman, who had 35 points in 1965. Another bright spot was the night the Norwalk Truckers came to town in first place and left in second. Along with the bright spots the Bellevue Cagers had a few disap- pointments. The biggest ofthe year being when Gordon Wolf went up for a shot in the Willard game, and came down hard twist- ing his knee. The hard luck for- ward saw no more action the rest of the season. Another disap- pointment was the two losses to Upper Sandusky. Upper has not had very good seasons the past two years but they handled Belle- vue all four times they met in those years. 'Cl W6'67?552pg Varsity And JV's Managers: Mike Grimm, Jim Queen, Greg Linn Craig l epley JUNIOR VARSITY HAS INIPRESSIVE SEASON The Bellevue Junior Varsity proved to their opponents this year that size isn't everything. The J.V.'s battled many teams that were much larger in height but coach Sam Schubert proved that his charges could win with hustle and skill. The Redmen also played good team ball which was a factor in some of the games they were not expected to do well. The J.V.'s finished the season with a 13-5 record. WRESTLERS BREAK TWO SCHOOL RECORDS ine 1971-72 season for the Bellevue Wrestlers was very pros- perous. They finished the year with a 10-2 season Cdual meet5 record. The only other team in the N.O.L. that had a better rec- ord was Norwalk, who went undefeated. Chris Crosby led the team in point making this year. He fin- ished the season with a 25-1-1 record, Which gave him the school record previously held by Don Didion. Another Redmen record was broken this year. Greg Mira pinned his opponent in the dis- trict tournament to give the 1972 wrestlers the school record for 66 Casey Didion lifts opponent high off the mat the number of pins in a season, at 80. The Redmen had many of their wrestlers finish high in the sec- tionals. Chris Crosby and Jamie Linder led the team with first place finishes, Dave DeLuca fin- ished second and Dale Brutcher, Curt Stoldt, and Casey Didion fin- ished third. The Redmen didn't do as well in the districts. Chris Crosby fin- ished the highest with a Third place. Bellevue won 10 and lost 2. The Redmen scored 483 points, a 40.3 per meet average.
