THEY CARRY THE PL Weekly the ASB presudents gavel com manded the attentuon of a group of enthusuastuc students seated about the conference rooms polushed table Thus was the scene of the luvely Board of Control meetungs where every AS B member could express hus wushes through hus home room representatuve Here was the hub of student government as forty school spuruted students concentrated theur efforts on solvung the numerous and varued stu dent body problems There were many vutal dus cussuons about current topucs such as the Kung Co league letter awards, school conduct and betterment of school spurut A mauor goal was reached when the A S B constututuon was revused after occupyung the agenda of many meetungs durung the year The student body treasury was relueved of a large burden for future years when the Board al located S2 470 to the staduum lughtung fund completung the last payment two years ahead of schedule To keep order un school, an A S B Court com posed of a student uury umposed penaltues upon BOARD OF CONTROL FIRST ROW D11 C e Pe e 2 et am exuru e 1 oml ANS T0 THE STUDENTS vuolators of proper school procedures lt was largely due to the Board of Control that ASB card sales were boosted to an all tume hugh Another early un the year servuce was spon sorshup of the welcome dance for newcomers A gala homecomung celebratuon was staged durung football season later on the funest var uety show un Bellevues hustory added S2l4 to the A S B treasury Through the assembly commuttee a varuety of hughly entertatnung assemblues was secured from outsude sources Two excellent class assemblues were presented one by the senuors un March and a second un May by the sophomores A negro quartet the Cabun Boys sang a delughtful program of spurutuals and folk songs Chouce acts from our varuety show were se lected for travel to Lake Washungton for a exchange assembly Bellevue students enloyed cu fune return performance guven by Kurklandutes lt was a busy and successful year for the A S B through the effucuent guudance and tureless efforts of the Board of Control the center of Bellevue s student government 1 y rg en 1 u Pr c l 1 Anderson SE D ROW ruy V k eynolds 3 mry Jo O den uurg 1 ur 1 uufyS r 111 P u 15 . , . , . . . STUDENT BOSSES ON THE BUILDING JOB School spirited and proud to be leading their fellow students the four officers elected by the student body for the year 19521953 have looked toward the future when Bellevue students will enloy the convenience of the new addition Spear heading the activities of the Board of Control Dave Widney president worked end lessly for the benefit of the ASB As well as represented Bellevue at all KlngCo League presl dents meetings during the year As AS B officers said Dave We are not only interested in the welfare of our high school of today but we re looking forward to the pride well have in Bellevue in the future Vice president Edie Simi with her usual dy nomic leadership carried out the additional duties of AS B historian and chairman of the ASB Court She was head of the assembly committee which secured many entertaining pro grams for the students Part of her responsibility was potential for she had to be prepared at all 'l4 times to assume the presidents position in his possible absence Secretary Sandy Stowell was responsible for the Board of Control minutes the greatest point of contact between the students and their legis lative body l hope thatl have helped the students to under stand the decisions of the Board of Control commented Sandy and it has been a lot of fun working for the student body The spark plug of any organization is the fi nance officer As A S B treasurer Tom Spencer made financial reports to the Board of Control and served on various student committees His efficient chairmanship of the ASB card and game ticket sales will be a model for future treasurers These four loyal students are to be commended for the fine leadership they have shown and for the earnestness of their purpose to build a better Bellevue for the future I f an ,, Sand well, Dave Widney, die in l, 1 r, ll ll , .
