HAROLD HEIDENREICH Bellevue's dream became reality through the efforts of many persons, whose contributions were vitalized by the labors of a great leader. Since 1949, when he came to Bellevue High School, this leader has been the driving force behind the materialization of a gymnasium, auditorium and cafeteria, all Bellevue High School's own. From his genial expression, we conclude that the realization of our hopes means as much to our principal as it does to us. We now offer humble thanks to one whose vigor, sincerity and charm have won him the greatest respect and love. Dedication of the 1953 Beacon to Mr. Harold Heidenreich is a small but heart-felt tribute to one who has given us so much. In times of triumph, the students joyfully lauded their teams with the proud victory yell. The strong current of school spirit was ever present in Bellevue High School this year, unifying students and teams in a constant drive for victory. The players, inspired by continuous support, were proud beyond expression to be fighting for their fellow students. Gladdened by the teams' inspiring behavior, the rooters spurred the players to greater conquests. This reciprocal loyalty held fast even through defeat, and Bellevue spirit soared ever upward, without a backward lapse. Linking the rooters with the teams, were seven colorful, vivacious girls. Experienced cheerleaders, Edie Simi, Lorrine Stromberg and Sheila Bird, expertly led their fellow students in many a rousing cheer at every game. With blue and gold pompoms, the four songleaders, recent bright addition to Bellevue, led many new songs and older tunes, with new zest and rhythm. These seven exuberent girls translated the potential spirit of the students into enthusiastic cheers, assuring the teams that their school was always with them. Through the united faith of students and players, school loyalty was lifted to new heights. ln future days, when rain no longer falls on the wide floor of the new gym, and the skirt hems of cheer and song leaders need not dip down into the moisture, new goals will be reached and then surpassed, by Bellevue students marching ever onward.
