MQ? SECTION 1 -ADMINISTRATION Let's imagine that it is 10:30 on a typical school morning. Just two hours ago we entered the front doors, went to our lockers, hung up our coats, got out our books, then climbed the wide stairs to the balcony. There we stood leaning on the curved railing and watched the life of Bellevue High School ebb and flow around the flags of the United States and Washington State, in and out past the huge stone pillar shielding the entrance to the office. Then the bell rang, and we went to first period class, where we heard in the bulle- tin that we were to attend a committee meeting in the conference room at 10:30. The time has come, and here we are at the long table in the little room tucked back under the down stairs. The table's polished surface reflects our faces os we discuss an important matter of school policy. Perhaps it is an A. S. MR FRANK ODLE Mathematucs Teacher DEDICATION ln the year 1918 when Mr Frank Odle now dean of mathematucs teachers came to Bellevue Dustruct neuther he nor anyone else dreamed that some day he would be teachung un a beautuful buuldung on top of a hugh hull lookung west across Lake Washungton to the far Olympuc Mountauns All those years ago thurty four to be exact many thungs were dufferent So remunusces Mr Odle recallung tumes gone by as he gazes out the wude wundows of room 204 westward to ward the snow clad peaks You take thus buuldung for example Thus us certaunly a change from what we had un 1918 Then we had hugh school un part of what us now the V F W hall There were fufteen hugh school pupuls un grades nune and ten and they had to share the school wuth grades fuve to eught The furst four grades were un a shack behund the hall We dudnt have a four year hugh school tull 1923 and our furst graduatung class un 1924 had three students un ut Almost everythung was dufferent then except human nature 2 In those days Mr Odle was dustruct superun tendent but he has been far more than that He has been teacher of the scuences mathematucs and Latun and even gurls basketball coach For ten years the Bellevue gurls basketball squad took one champuonshup after another un unter scholastuc competutuon It travelled as far as Oak Harbor and Skykomush defeatung all opposutuon even the Seattle teams ln stull another fueld the theater Mr Odle has the durectorshup of a couple of dozen plays on hus record For ten years he served as funancual head of the Bellevue student Today as an outstandung mathematucs teacher and advuser of the Torch Honor Socuety Mr Odle us a fruend to all hus students He us a furm but kundly duscuplunaruan loved and respected by all un hus classes In deep apprecuatuon to a man who has de voted over a thurd of a century to helpung Bellevue Hugh School students achueve hugher udeals of scholarshup and conduct thus 1952 BEACON respectfully deducated to Mr Frank Odle .
