Miss Baer was the only department head that elected to transfer to East. I, as the principal, felt this was very commendable. I think this provided a good nucleus and a stable influence on other appointed department heads. She has always worked for perfection. She has the re¬ spect of the community and her programs are attened by not only East patrtns, but people in the entire Belleville area. Her concerts are always conducted in a professional manner. Mr. McCoy It ' s a rare occasion when one person can affect an entire community through music. Miss Baer has done this. Dedication, sacrifice, and de¬ sire to achieve a goal makes reaching that goal rewarding and worthwhile. Winning and losing is a part of football, and most assuredly in life, there are winners and losers . HEAD COACH DEAN RENN 65 After going through all the work, the pain, the sweat, and the wins and losses together, you acquire really good friends. Mike Genin CO! 4 Football this year has been enjoyable for me. Unfortunately, injuries have hurt this team alot. My only wish is that I can put to use what football has taught me. Although losing to East St. Louis and Belleville West, they concluded the season with 4 straight wins, including a shutout in the final game against Collinsville. With returning lettermen such as Doug Harris, the Lancers should have a successful ' 77 season. 1st Row-Laurie Becherer, Margie Hubert, Donna Farley, Susan Pulley, Cassie Heely, Linda Etllng, Nancy Kassebaum, Karen Vahlkamp. 2nd Row-Coach Du Hadway, Rita Kohl, Mary Zellerman, Jayne Augustine, Barb Braun, Linda Going, Debbie Weisenstein, Stephanie Krill, Kathy Kohl. The girls ' tennis team established a record during the 1976 season that will be difficult to duplicate. They were undefeated during the regular season, winning 11 dual matches while losing none and also won the Belleville East Invitational and District Tournaments. Four girls advanced to the state tournament where, as a team, they placed eleventh. I feel this record was accomplished because East had a group of talented and very hard working girls. Wrestling is a body contact sport in which the object is to pin your opponent s shoulders to the mat. Wrestling would compliment any sport because it teaches ba¬ lance, coordination, agility and speed. Wrestling also improves endurance and self-confidence. Although wrestling is a team sport is is helpful in that you also have one-on-one combat against someone your own weight and can contribute to in¬ dividual accomplishments. The Coaches and Blue Cheer are proud of the Wrestling Team and the part they play in putting Belleville East Lancers on the map. These pages are composed of general pictures with special moments which everyone can look back on and remember something important to them. Artwork is an im¬ portant factor in the style of the book. It adds a certain personal effect and the feeling that someone cares about the book. Not only is a feeling of care for the book reflected through the artwork and photography, but for the school and everyone in¬ volved with the school and its activities. The staff and I can only hope that all of you appreciate our efforts in the book and that the book brings many pleasant memories in future years.
