Foreword “That this volume- shall in some small way interpret the spirit of the school is our fondest hope; that the material embodied in it shall do anything more than briefly outline the spirit and the attitude of our school is more than we may ask. If perhaps there is within this volume one thing worthy of our school we have achieved our purpose and the rest remains with the reader.” So stated the eleven members of the first Bellevinois Staff in the Foreword of their book, pub¬ lished in the spring of 1917. Since its beginning in 1916-1917, Belleville Township 1 ligh School has grown every year in size and in greatness. Each vear the school has had reason to be proud of its growth, its increas¬ ing academic and extracurricular offerings, and the group participation and individual achieve¬ ments of its faculty, personnel, and students. This year, the fiftieth link in the chain of years, is our year, and we can take special pride in what has been achieved. For this is the peak year of our school’s history, individual in its greatness, yet a result of the work of all of the preceding years. Next year the school will separate into two campuses, but this vear, 1965 1966, our thought is one, the pride of nearly four thousand students as they play their parts in shaping the history of BTF1S.
